ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy.

Meet Your Instructor

As a Certified ISR Instructor, my passion for water safety was ignited when my my 10-month-old nephew decided to go swimming alone. We were all home and he escaped across the yard into my parents above ground pool within minutes. By the grace of God, he held onto the ladder railing. As scary as this was, I knew it could have been much worse. So later that day, I enrolled both my nephew and son into ISR lessons and after Covid became a certifies ISR Instructor to continue the mission and help prevent childhood drowning. If a child can master self-rescue swimming skills starting at 6 months of age – learning to roll back and float within seconds of a submersion – I know that we can give the child AND family the knowledge and understanding of what infants and young children can achieve in the water INDEPENDENTLY.

Drowning remains the leading cause of injury death for children under five, a statistic that fueled my decision to become an ISR instructor in 2020. After three successful teaching seasons in Central Florida, I continue to expand my expertise in the comfort at your home or community.

I specialize in teaching self-rescue swimming skills to children ages 6 months through 6 years+, which could save their lives if they ever find themselves alone in the water. As both a parent and instructor, I understand the delicate balance of nurturing confidence while building competence in the water. Every child's success story reinforces my commitment to empowering families with these essential life-saving skills.

Swim-Float-Swim

Solid Walkers

The swim-float-swim program teaches your child to swim underwater (3-4 seconds) until they need to breathe, roll to their back for a few breaths until rested, then swim starting the sequence again until they reach the pool steps, side of the pool, or the shoreline.

Jumps/Diving

Walkers

Once your child can swim and float, we begin guided jumps into the pool to rollback to float. Through use of the steps/ladder we practice diving into 3ft to 6ft- age appropriate.

Strokes

Fully Skilled ISR students

Once your child is fully skilled through ISR swim-float-swim sequence, we can begin learning strokes and extending their swim-float-swim to cross the pool length independently.

Rollback to Float

Infants to Early Walkers

The rollback to float program teaches your baby to independently turn themselves onto their back if ever face down in the water to safely breathe, rest, and float until help arrives.
